Shael Oswal recalls his lowest moment

Speaking about something which he regrets now, Shael Oswal answered, “I only missed one thing, which I will not miss now. I will try—I will try even harder. Maybe my management wasn’t good. Okay, artist management… or, you know, maybe it was that I encountered some people at that time who were really terrible and tried to destroy me out of jealousy. They wondered, ‘How did his song become a hit?’ A lot of these people were from Punjab—I won’t name them. They wanted to destroy me, to bring me down. These thoughts were constantly on my mind at that time.”

He added, “It’s very scary—really scary. But I’ve learned from that—the whole journey. Luckily, now I have good people around me. But I am a bit emotional, you know. I’m not the kind of person who hides what’s in their heart. Whatever’s in my heart is on my face. I’m not a hypocrite. I don’t have double-faced friends either. So, a lot of things were happening, and I thought, let me just sit somewhere peaceful. I went to my farm in Delhi—it was winter. I remember the song had come out in October 2006.”

Oswal concluded, “Shraddha Arya was calling me, asking, ‘Where are you? We have to do a performance together. People are calling me for college events and all.’ I told her, ‘I just can’t do it. I can’t do it. My voice isn’t coming out.’ That was my condition—really bad. I used to sit in my room and listen to my song. Even when I turned on the TV, I would watch and think, ‘Yeah, you know,’ and a smile would appear on my face. But again, that smile would turn into something very different.”
